Corcovado National Park
The amazing Corcovado National Park is located in the Osa Peninsula, in the South Pacific region of Costa Rica. The park has been recognized to possess the largest variety of wildlife in Costa Rica, and it is considered the most biologically intense place on Earth, by Nat Geo. This paradise is home to endangered species such as the Jaguars, the Anteaters, monkeys, hundreds of species of birds, reptiles, amphibians and also a vast and healthy marine and freshwater habitat population. Corcovado is surrounded by other protected areas, in order to create the " Buffer Zone ", and so therefore, the vast tropical rainforests, hills, wetlands, lagoons, mangrove forests and other habitats create an immense sanctuary for wildlife. The areais often visited buy tourists and scientists alike. There are 4 main gateways into the park, from Carate in the South, San Pedrillo to the North, Los Patos and Sirena.
Osa Peninsula and Golfo Dulce
This amazing Park is the most popular national park among scientists and ecotourists alike. The park is located in the Osa. Its size and topography make it the last hideaway for endangered species like the Jaguar and giant Anteater. Trekking through the park is done from Los Patos to Sirena and then existing at La Leona or vice versa. Drake Bay is the main Gateway for those interested in exploring the northern part of the National Park and the Peninsula, from Drake Bay to San Pedrillo. Drake Bay has its own airstrip, lodges and hotels, restaurants. Most people get to Drake Bay by boat leaving Sierpe, a small community on the Sierpe River. This journey takes about 1 hour. Local boat transfers can be booked in Sierpe.Carate is a tiny beach and rainforest community located at the very end of the road from Puerto Jimenez to the southern Corcovado National Park entrance at La Leona, in the southern part of the Osa Peninsula. This destination is great for hikers, adventurers that make the hike between Los Patos and Sirena and La Leona or vice versa, or for nature lovers. Carate is a very remote and unspoiled destination. There are four lodges located around the town.
