Cano Negro Wetlands
Cano Negro Wildlife Reserve is located in the far North of Costa Rica, in the lowlands of San Carlos, near the border with Nicaragua. The Cano Negro Biological reserve is the largest and most important network of wetlands in the region. The species of birds and other species of fauna and flora that inhabit the park is vast. Not only are bird species abundant, but also the members of those specific bird species, with healthy and thriving colonies inhabiting and reproducing within the park borders. Located about 2 hours from La Fortuna, Cano Negro is also a great place for those looking for a boat safari, seeing crocodiles, caimans, snakes, and many species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects and of course birds.
