Murcielago Costa Rica
Bat Islands ( Murcielago Islands or Islas Murcielago ) are a group of small islands located in the northern coast of Guanacaste, near Respingue Lagoon, Bahia Potrero Grande both within the vast Santa Rosa National Park. They are the best places for diving, with excellent visibility almost all year round and a large population of marine species, both fish, corals and other creatures. On the islands there is only one ranger station, and there are no hotels or other types lodging nor accommodation options. When soliciting permits well in advance however we can organize a trip with official permission to spend the night near the island, in the coastal town of Cuajiniquil, from where by boat we can discover not only the Bat Islands, but also other attractions in the area, like Playa Blanca Beach, Bahia Junquillal, Bahia Santa Elena, the incredible Laguna Respingue, Playa Potrero Grande, Playa Naranjo and many natural treasures. The diving and snorkeling in Murcielago is excellent, and one of the main attractions for divers is the healthy bull shark population, one of the largest and healthiest along the coast of Central America.
