If you are looking for typical Costa Rican Central Valley handcrafts, especially cloth, wood, leather and other material, then Sarchi is probably the place you should go. I say typical Central Valley Costa Rican crafts because there are very few handcrafts that reflect the culture and customs of the other provinces. The tradition Ox Cart, painted in the typical Central Valley style for example is one of the most present articles for sale. The coffee culture, typical dresses, T-shirts, leather and wood articles are also quite popular. The town of Sarchi is located in the outskirts of the Central Valley. Surrounded by the Central Volcanic Mountain Range and green coffee farms, it is still a quite small town. Sarchi can be visited in combination with a trip to the Poas Volcano or Example, or also in combination with the Doka Estate Coffee Farm, or both.
