Costa Rica Scuba Diving
Costa Rica has two coasts, many islands and a diverse and abrupt geography. The best dive sites in Costa Rica start with Cocos Island, which is located around 30 hours off shore, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. This site can only be visited in pre organized dive trips, normally no shorter than 7 days including on board living and daily dives included. Another great site is Murcielago Islands, located in front of the Santa Elena Peninsula, in the far north of Guanacaste`s coast. The visibility of Murcielago is awesome, up to 100 feet, and the wildlife is surreal. It is well known for its healthy population of Bull Sharks. There is yet another great scuba point in the South Pacific, called Cano island. Located off the coasts of Corcovado and Osa Peninsula, it offers great visibility and again , lots of wildlife, including Eels, Turtles, large and abundant schools of coral fish, corals, sharks, Eagle Rays and much much more. Cahuita National Park and its coral reef and the entire South Caribbean coastline offer some amazing visibility and a totally different marine fauna. Those would be the top 4 dive sites in Costa Rica. However, the entire coastline offers great local dive spots.
