Location

We are located in front of Cocles Beach (awarded with the Costa Rican Government Blue Flag for clean beaches), 1,5 km south of Puerto Viejo of Talamanca, on the road to Manzanillo, South Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica.

The distance from San José to Puerto Viejo is 210 km or approximately 3:30 hrs.

Take the Limón highway through the cloud forest of Braulio Carrillo National Park, passing Guápiles and Siquirres to the port city of Limón. Turn south onto the palm fringed coastal scenic road passing Cahuita and then through the village of Puerto Viejo continuing about a mile south to Azània Bungalows.

You can either rent a car or a 4x4, take a direct bus (6:00, 10:00, 13:30 and 15:30) to Puerto Viejo from "Gran Terminal del Caribe" or a private transfer in a minibus service.

Just a few steps from the Caribbean sea, with the tropical rainforest in background, the spacious and tastefully decorated bungalows are privately set apart amidst lush gardens full of color and natural beauty.

Designed and crafted in a unique style that blends traditional materials, exotic woods and thatched-palm roofs, with a modern building concept, giving each bungalow a particular atmosphere, with a softly lit original sauna-style bathroom that allows you to enjoy a shower while admiring the natural surroundings. The mezzanine provides wonderful spatial flexibility; while ceiling fans, large windows with mosquito nets and high peaked roofs allow a refreshing natural air circulation. All decorated with bamboo lamps and furniture.

Each bungalow comes equipped with a refrigerator and has its own private deck and hammock out front, inviting to relax and enjoy the colorful tropical gardens of the surroundings covered with bromeliads, heliconias, gingers, palms and tropical fruit trees, which interact with a great variety of birds and butterflies, as well as to listen to the different sounds of the jungle or just lie under a bright moonlight and sparkling stars.

Every bungalow comfortably lodge up to four people, with one queen size bed and two twin size beds, one of them placed in the mezzanine to provide privacy.

For enjoying a delightful tropical breakfast, fresh drinks, listen to some music, Direct TV, play games or get some information and advices about tours and activities…a cozy place with fine woods and inviting decoration awaits you…the "Club House / Reception"…built like a typical palm-roof Rancho which reflect in the dimensions of its structure those of the surrounding rainforest.
Azania now also offers a restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner under a palm leave rancho.

Activities

There are many options to have a great time and either feel active or just rest like nowhere else during your stay in the South Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, without the crowds of other vacation destinations.

We can assist you in organizing your days, which can go from exploring over 20 km of pristine white, black and gold sand beaches, to dolphin-watch boat tours, visits to Cahuita National Park, Tortuguero National Park, hiking Gandoca-Manzanillo National Refuge, the canopy tour, water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, river and sea-kayaking, surfing and bodyboarding, horse-back riding, quad-tours, visits to local indian reservations and trips to the islands of Bocas del Toro in Panama.

At night, the village of Puerto Viejo, with its afro-caribbean flavor, has a great variety of restaurants with local and international cuisine, bars and small discotheques by the beach where you can party at the rhythm of reggae or salsa music.
