The Hotel California, located in beautiful Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, is the ideal destination for your next vacation. Set on a mountain, surrounded by jungle, with awesome views of the Pacific Ocean, the Hotel is the perfect place to experience the peace of paradise and the thrill of local attractions.
The Hotel California is specially designed for foreign visitors. You get the rainforest and Costa Rica's most beautiful beach, and still have all of the comforts of home. We run a small, secluded hotel, and offer personalized services to our guests. Our goal is to cater to the individual - with a little Costa Rican touch!

ROOMS

Room Descriptions
The rooms at the Hotel California were designed to make your stay as relaxing as possible. They are super-comfortable, and you will find that a great deal of thought has been given to every last detail (as you will read below).

There are two types of rooms, Deluxe and Standard.

DELUXE (12 rooms)
Spacious room with Queen size bed, balcony and great ocean view.

STANDARD (10 rooms)
Spacious room with Queen size bed or Queen and twin bed, balcony, and garden view.

In general, the 22 rooms have been remodeled and are equipped with state-of-the-art and super quiet A/C, cable tv, private bathroom with hot water, mini-bars, telephone, balcony with large chairs, and security box.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES

Breakfast Wherever You Want!
We offer delicious breakfasts cooked to order either at our poolside restaurant or in the comfort of your room. Our menu highlights fresh baked breads, scones, muffins and specialties of Costa Rica, fresh fruits and fruit juices and an American style breakfast menu laced with local specialites. Healthy and vegetarian options are available.

Poolside Lunch at the Sunset Grill
Lunch is served poolside and features a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches and "bocas", basically snack foods of a latin variety. Our Sunset Grill
pool bar features exotic tropical drinks, beer and various wines from South America. Lounge poolside and have a leisurely lunch while you wait for our local monkeys to make their daily visit.

Dinner for Two
Our dinner menu features an international fusion cuisine that focuses on fresh fish and seafood. We offer a generous vegetarian menu, as well. Asian sauces and tempuras, italian fresh pastas, Thai touches, sushi as well as our own delicious versions of "casados" , the local simple meals of fish, beef or chicken served with our own version of ginger rice and black beans. Fresh breads baked daily, desserts that feature rich cholcolates and local fruits, and of course with every meal, the finest coffee in the world from right here in Costa Rica.

TOURS AND ACTIVITIES

Hotel California can book tours with several good, local companies, to help you get out and see the country. All of these tours come with our personal recommendations, and we suggest at least one or two tours a week to get the most out of your stay in Costa Rica.
Sport Fishing
The Hotel can book Sport Fishing tours with local companies. All boats have: Tower with full controls, IGFA tackle, Penn International Reels, Lee fighting chair, Cabin with bed, Marine toilet, Captain & Mate with 10 years of catch and release experience. The fishing is excellent during the months September - December, however May - June is the best time of year.

In contrast to the other tours listed on this page, we highly recommend that you book this tour before arriving in Costa Rica, as waiting lists can be considerable.
Canopy Tours
The first and only US certified high rope activity company in the area, Outdoor Expeditions takes you through the forests in style. A typical day will find you screaming through the air on a zip line, bouncing around on a 4x4, and dropping 20 feet into crystal clear pools.

Canopy Walk
Rain Maker is a well established company with a few different tours to offer. We think that the Canopy Bridges tour is ideal for the first-timer to Costa Rica.

The Canopy Bridges offer visitors of various abilities the chance to view the rainforest's rich canopy. With six suspension cable bridges, totaling 250 meters in length, your nature interpreter will safely escort you to a height of 20 stories, overlooking the waterfalls and jungle below. Suitable for ages 12 and up.
Canyoning
Ever wondered what it is like behind a clean, tropical waterfall? Blissful, an unforgettable moment. Canyoning Tours takes you to these waterfalls - and down them!!

A very safe hands-on tour, you can hike, swim and rappel your way through amazingly diverse ecosystems. These tours are designed to accommodate all ages and abilities, so almost everybody can enjoy the thrill of canyoning.
Horseback Riding
Hotel California offers tours through two local companies: Rancho Los Tucanes and Brisas del Nara.

Both tours visit waterfalls in the rural areas surrounding Manuel Antonio, provide exceptional bilingual guides, and transport guests to and from Manuel Antonio. Half-Day options available.
Sailing Tours
Imagine sailing throught the waters of Costa Rica, pausing for some snorkeling, a little lunch, and a pod of dolphins. Sunset Sails makes all of this possible. Their professional crew will take you to the most secluded and spectacular locales and cook some delicious food.

Tours last all day and can be specially catered to honeymooners.
