Las
Caletas Lodge
Drake
Bay - Osa - Costa Rica
For those looking
to escape from the hectic pace of
the city to a place of rest, relaxation,
tranquility and peace, Las Caletas
- Drake Bay, is for you.
Located close to the Corcovado National
Park, Osa Peninsula, the access to
our lodge is only possible by boat,
riding or walking in.
The small family
owned and operated lodge (the owners
are a Tico and Swiss couple) is condusive
to releasing the pent-up stress of
modern life and soaking up the tropical
ambiance. The cabins and owners' house
are perched atop a steep ridge right
above a small private cove, with expansive
views of the Pacific and the coastline
north of Drake Bay. Careful landscaping
highlights the natural setting, though
electricity is available in all the
rooms through noiseless solar panels
and a water-driven turbine. The forest
slopes gently down to the lodge itself.
Las Caletas only
entertains a few guests at a time,
maximizing both attention and privacy.
We are located about
two miles south of the small town
of “Agujitas”, right above
a beautiful swimming and snorkelling
beach. We can be reached just by boat,
hiking or riding in. The beaches here
are called “Playas Las Caletas”,
which means “little beach”
or “cove” and is an area
full of small sand beaches, divided
by dark volcanic rocks. The combination
of rain forest and ocean is unique.
We are surrounded by primary and secondary
forest and the remote location of
the area makes that wildlife is still
quiet intact. Around here you can
observe white-face capuchin, howler
and spider monkeys, sloths, coatimundis,
peccaries, opossums, agoutis, toucans,
pelicans, scarlet macaws and many
other birds. On trips on the ocean
dolphins, turtles, flying fishes and
stingrays are very common.
We do offer a total
of five cozy cabins with a total capacity
for approximately 15 people.
All of our rooms come with private
bathrooms and hot water showers, beds
with mosquito nets, terraces with
seats or hammocks and 24 hours of
electricity (provided through noiseless
solar panels and a water-driven turbine).
DUPLEX
This building is located close to
our main buildings and offers a beautiful
ocean and forest view. We can accommodate
comfortably up to four persons in
each of this two very spacious two-story
cabins. Each room has two separate
sleeping areas, divided by the stairs
and contains one double and one single
bed upstairs and two single beds downstairs.
The bathroom is downstairs. This kind
of accommodation is perfect for families
or small groups.
Hiking, swimming,
snorkeling, horseback riding . . .
Or just relax in the hammock reading
a book and enjoying the great view!
The surrounding area of the Corcovado
National Park offers something for
everyone.
