El Remanso is that rare ecotourist

Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, one of
the world's greatest ecologically
diverse areas. The Osa Peninsula is
host to over 700 species of trees,
more than either the entire country
of the USA or Canada. El Remanso Rainforest
Wildlife Lodge is located half way
between the town of Puerto Jimenez
and the famous Corcovado National
Park and is included in the Osa National
Wildlife Refuge which now integrates
over 5,000 acres. This wildlife refuge
protects the biological corridor between
Corcovado National Park and Cabo Matapalo.
The Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica is
one of the world's most beautiful
pristine tropical rain forests of
the world amd a great eco-tourist
holiday. You can see vast amounts
of wildlife and botanical treasures.
Scarlet macaws, toucans, parrots,
four species of monkeys, five species
of wild cats, kinkajous and much more
can all be seen from El Remanso lodging.
Sandy beaches, rivers, forest trails,
tree climbing, waterfalls and some
of the world's best birding and wildlife
viewing.
Our lodge's 140 acres are surrounded
by ancient forest and its endlessly
fascinating and amazing jungle and
wildlife. Recent sightings include
jaguars, ocelots and several species
of rare endemic birds. If you want
to experience the splendors of nature
at its best while relaxing comfortably

Our cabins built with local
fallen hardwood timber
If you are adventurous you may want
to experience the forest canopy by
climbing to the platforms in the trees
for exhilarating views. Our many waterfalls
on the property can be enjoyed by
hiking or a four hour trip rappelling
down a series of four falls and through
shady pools. At the end of the pools
you will arrive on our wonderful sandy
beach.
Our cabins are situated with ocean
and forest views where you can experience
the rain forest at its best in comfortable
and spectacular lodging.
Each cabin is fully screened, has
a private bath, hot water, electricity
provided by a micro-hydroelectric
plant, a queen and single bed, and
hammocks. Relax on the front porch
where you can watch the gorgeous sunset,
while listening to the song sounds
of the forest.

The El Remanso Lodge is situated
on 140 acres of tropical rainforest.
Care has been taken in the creation
of the lodge to minimize the impact
of construction on this special place.
We encourage our guests to take advantage

THE WATERFALLS
The El Remanso property has 17 waterfalls.
A visit to the lodge is incomplete
until you have experienced some of
them. A magnificent 70 foot waterfall
will give you the best massage of
your life.
THE RAINFOREST
The diversity of trees and plants
on the 140 acres makes El Remanso
a special place. Silvia Solis, a biologist
graduate student from the University
of Costa Rica, is working on her thesis
about the pollinators of canopy trees.

THE BEACH
The beautiful wild trail through
the forest to the beach opens onto
the wide immensity of the Pacific
Ocean, with a fringe of coconut palms
framing the scene.
TIDAL POOLS
Take a walk to the beach at low tide
and experience the tidal pools.

El Remanso is home to many animals
and birds including 4 species of monkeys.
