We have 48 cabins equipped with
two double beds, a/c, private bath,
hot water and terrace in front of
the beautiful and refresh swimming
pool and Jacusy.
We also have a big parking lot,
bar, restaurant, and the most exciting
activities of adventure like horse
tours, Rafting and Canopy by the
impressive Canyon of the Colorado
river.
LOCATION
We are located 18 km East from
Liberia International Airport ,
in the province of Guanacaste. Just
15 minutes from Liberia, 30 minutes
to the Rincon de la Vieja National
Park, 30 minutes to Santa Rosa National
Park and 45 minutes to Palo Verde
National Park.
We are the perfect operations center
to visit the most of the natural
parks of Guanacaste.
WEATHER & TEMPERATURE
In the environs of Liberia, territory
of the Canyon Lodge, with an elevation
of 120 m.a.s.l, the climate is dry
and warm from December to April,
full sun season, Alisios winds and
romantic star show nights.
The rainy season normally start
in the middle of May and finishes
in the middle of November. It is
characterized by the green of the
landscape, sunny mornings and showers
in the afternoons almost evrey other
day. In July and August we have
a beautifull Indian Summer.

The Guanacaste Desert
Our property is over a mass of clay
call “Cascajo”, product
of incredible explosions of the
Rincon de la Vieja and Miravalles
volcanoes more than 10,000 years
ago. This clay (silicone and quartz)
conforms the land in a very similar
landscape as Arizona desert.
We are the unique hotel from where
you will be able to enjoy the real
"GUANACASTE DESERT".
Canopy Tour
9 cables, 17 platforms, 1 suspension
bridge through the Colorado River
Canyon. It takes approximately 2
hours.
Rafting
Enjoy with your friends or family
this fabulous adventure rafting
by the expresses of the Colorado
Canyon River. Class II and III.
Approximate time 1:30 hrs. Ask for

Rock climbing
Impressive and exciting alive rock
wall with 20 meters of height in
the Colorado River Canyon.
Rappel
Rappeling 20 meters with nylon rope,
figure 8 and total security. After
that, climb the rock wall controlled
by our guides.
Horseback riding
Ride with our guides the Tropical
Dry Forest, the Canyon of the Colorado
River and give to your body a “
chapuzón ” in the Happy
Monkey well. 1:30 hrs.
Rincon de la Vieja National Park
With 14,000 hectares, the Rincon
de la Vieja National Park is cradle
of the most important hydrographic
river basin of Guanacaste, originating
innumerable rivers and ravines of
pure and crystalline water that
invite you to practice hiking. Several
days are needed to know all their
attractiveness, but we are at your
service to suggest you the best
way to take advantage of your time.
Hiking to the crater
From the Ranger Station (1.800 f.a.s.l),
it is 8 Km hiking until the summit
of the crater (6.000 f.a.s.l). It
takes about 3:30 hours one way.
Sulfur hot springs
From Las Pailas, 6 Km in the way
to Santa Maria, there are three
different pools of sulphure spring
thermal waters and a cold-water
stream. You can take a bath in this
mineral waters moving to the cold
and back to the hot in a totally
natural atmosphere. It is about
3 hours one way from the Ranger
Station.
Trails through six types of Tropical
Forest
Hiking from 600 m.a.s.l until 2.000
m.a.s.l. Discover in a single day
the great biodiversity that exist
in each one of the ecological layers
like Dry Tropical Forest, Transitional
Tropical Forest, Humid Tropical
Forest, Rainy Tropical Forest, Cloud
Tropical Forest and Desert within
the Rincon de la Vieja National
Park.
Las Pailas – Mud pots
This is the area of the most volcanic
action you can see in Guanacaste.
You will find boiling waters, sulphure
lagoons, mud pots, geysers, natural
steam bath and small volcanoes in
constant eruption, besides the wildlife
you will see everywhere. It takes
approximately 2 hours round trip
from the Ranger Station.
Blue Lake (Cangreja)
It is a 90 feet height waterfall
whose lagoon is totally blue due
to the copper in the water. You
can jump, swim and relax in this
wonderful natural paradise. The
access is allowed only by foot and
takes 2 hours one way from the Ranger
Station.
Crater Von Seebach
This is the highest one of the nine
eruptive craters that conforms the
mountain of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.
From the top, you can observe at
the same time the great Lake of
Nicaragua and the Papagayo Gulf.
It takes 3:30 hours one way hiking
from the Ranger Station.
Crater Rincon de la Vieja
This is the only crater in continuous
volcanic activity basically of water
and gases. The hike to there is
a constant discovery of different
types of flora and fauna. The elevation,
climate, and temperature differences
make great variation in the wildlife.
It is 3:30 hours one way from the
Ranger Station.
Santa Maria old house
This is an old house remaining the
days never come again of Guanacaste
XIX century. Today is a museum of
photografys, hand tools, very old
farm gears and insect collection.
The trail through the Wet Forest
takes about 4 hours one way by foot
from the Ranger Station.
Linnet bird Lagoon
It is located at the base of Rincon
de la Vieja crater covered by the
Cloud Forest. Its cold and crystalline
water is product of the rain and
is characterized by the abundance
of Linnet birds and Tapir. With
an approximated extension of 8 hectares,
there is a small island in its extreme
West. We recommend you to take an
expert guide to visit this hidden
paradise. It is 4 hours one way
from the Ranger Station.
Hidden Waterfalls
There are three waterfalls of approximately
210 feet height. Their waters are
so pure and crystalline that you
can see the bottom of the lagoon
three meters depth. Those are located
in the Southwestern slope of the
active crater with about 3,600 f.a.s.l.
You will take about 2 hours one
way from the Ranger Station.
Indigenous cemeteries
There are many archeological areas
within the forest and in open fields
that are accessible to the visitor.
Ancient Chorotegas used the slopes
of Rincon de la Vieja as they home
beyond this life.
