The Playas de Nosara area is unique to Costa Rica. What began as a planned residential community nearly 30 years ago has evolved into one of the more attractive, peaceful, yet fully serviced, and even “eclectic” destinations on the Nicoya Peninsula, if not the entire country. This attraction has a lot to do with the incredible combination of qualities found here. We offer you this unique combination to enjoy.

Nosara has a variety of restaurants or stay home with us, lying in the hammock on your private porch…while we prepare your next meal of fresh fish, steaks, pasta, or something special from our own wood-fired pizza oven (the only one in town!).

Our community is also part of the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge which includes the huge white sand beach of Guiones, where you can surf “the most consistent waves in Costa Rica”; The quiet, calm cove of Pelada; The mouth of the Rio Nosara, where you can begin your amazing river tour; Further north are Playa Nosara itself and Playa Ostional, one of the main nesting beaches for the Olive Ridley Turtle. And to complete this perfect selection, just to the South is Playa Garza, a natural reef-protected marina where you can find sportfishing or take a sunset sail.

Indeed, we even have some of the best weather, being in a tropical dry forest, itself unique in the world. This means “30-40% more sunshine than most of Costa Rica”, a less-humid dry season and a pleasant green season that brings just enough rain to simply keep us green!

Giardino Tropicale is a small and private, quiet and comfortable, Sustainable hotel and development. (In Switzerland , where Marcel is from, they call it “EcoTel”.) This means we have done everything possible to lower the environmental impact of our development while offering you the highest standard of comfort. (Low impact landscaping, solar hot water heaters and grey water waste system, etc.) Most of the units and the apartment are brand new! As is our Jacuzzi and lap pool , which is the only one in all of Nosara. (Children's pool too!)

When you stay with us, you are surrounded by our professionally designed, lush, tropical gardens . . . where you can actually see most of the flora and fauna that all of Costa Rica has to offer right from your private porch, balcony or breakfast table.

Within our little world we have a good selection of accommodations, with rates to meet nearly any budget. From our 4 Standard Rooms(Air condition available, extra charges $10/night) for up to 3 guests (2 rooms up to 4 people)each, with private patios, refrigerator, coffee maker, all with Air condition, which run from $58 to $76. . .to our Deluxe Rooms (Air condition available, extra charges $10/night) also for up to 3, with private balconies, complete with refrigerator, sink and coffee maker from $75 to $95. (Air conditioning available.) Or you can stay in your own apartment (Air condition available, extra charges $10/night) with a huge balcony, completely furnished kitchen and bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. Daily rates (min. 3 nights) from $ 110 - 135. All units come with one double and one twin bed with extra beds available.

Everything is here for your complete comfort, including one of the top restaurants in the area with the only wood-fired pizza oven around. A public telephone and internet access are also available on-site. You will only want to leave to enjoy the many local activities that keep many of our guests coming back again and again!
