Hotel Los Cipreses

Monteverde Costa Rica

Located just five minutes from Santa Elena’s downtown, Los Cipreses Hotel is a welcoming place surrounded by beautiful gardens where you can take pleasure in the natural feeling of Monteverde’s mountains as well as the personalized attention of the owners.

The hotel has twenty rooms for two, three, four, and even seven-person in a safe and tranquil environment. Every room is amazingly comfortable and they are all equipped with private bathroom and shower with hot water. Ten additional rooms will also be opening in the beginning of January 2008.

Internet and access to WIFI is free for our customers. Enjoy our TV room, private parking, transportation service, and an information center where you can reserve and have access to the different attractions of this marvelous area, renowned as one of the most visited, touristic spots in the planet.

Our fares include a delicious common “tico” breakfast accompanied with seasonal fruits, and the unique taste of a cup of locally grown coffee. What more? We offer the possibility of enjoying our restaurant’s exquisite variety of dishes, selected from traditional Costa Rican food.

Utilized in the past as an agrarian farm, Refugio de Vida Silvestre Monteverde is a protected area of 30 hectares, situated less than a mile above sea level.

Just 1.2 miles from Santa Elena’s downtown, this refuge is right between the pacific dry forest and Monteverde’s cloud forest, which provides an extensive diversity of flora and fauna.

All our trails are properly marked, and design for a safe and pleasurable hike.

During the day, the refuge opens its doors from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The night tour begins at 5:30 p.m. and finishes at 7:30 p.m. Throughout the tour, and depending on the season, you may observe toucans, quetzals, bellbirds, and a wide variety of other birds, as well as several mammals like sloths, olingos, martillas, and monkeys. You can also observe snakes, tarantulas, frogs, and great variety of insects. And don’t forget the far-reaching plant diversity of the place.

The refuge is an open natural area, which means that a variety of animals visit the area according to the season (feeding or reproductive) or the weather conditions.
We have a team of six bilingual guides, who are widely experienced in the field, to lead the day tours as well as night tours.

As of December 2007, we have a garden area with endemic and exotic plants, and a hummingbird garden with trails and rest zones, so you can enjoy this great experience.
