Hotel
Herradura
San
Jose Costa Rica
The Hotel Ramada
Plaza Herradura was first build in
March 1975 by Exposiciones Agropecuarias
Bonanza, to allocate the foreigner
participants of agropecuarian events
in Costa Rica with the name Hotel
Herradura Americano. Later on, the
name was modified to Hotel Herradura,
which was, and still is a land mark
in Costa Rica. In 1986 the Hotel was
increased to 145 rooms and also became
part of the group of the Hotel Sheraton
Franchise and again changed its name
to Hotel Sheraton Herradura. As a
product of this integration, the Hotel
increased its standards of quality
and services to international standards
for the national and foreigners’
tourists. Nonetheless, during the
nineties, the franchise was eliminated
and the Hotel was renamed Hotel Herradura
Golf Resort & Conference Center.
This new administration build 89 new
rooms, a casino, a new swimming pool,
a snack bar and build the Conference
Center, which was finished in 1991,
becoming the most extensive and modern
Conference Center in Central America,
which have distinguished Ramada Plaza
Herradura as one of the best Hotels
in Costa Rica. On 5th March 2001 a
new group assumed the administration
of the Hotel. On 7th December 2005
the new administration acquired the
franchise owned by Cendant; named
Ramada Plaza, thus the hotel changed
the named to Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura,
keeping the tradition of the trademark
“Herradura” because of
the importance in Hotel history in
Costa Rica.
We are nestled in the heart of the
central valley, amid a breathtaking
backdrop of lush green meadows and
surrounded by beautiful mountains,
five miles away from the Juan Santamaria
International Airport (SJO), and a
short driving distance from San Jose,
the capital city. Our hotel is nature
friendly and on August 1999 was awarded
with four out of five sustainability
flags of the Environmental Sustainable
Certificate Program of the ICT, Costa
Rica’s Tourist Board, making
our property therefore, the first
city hotel to obtain this prestigious
distinction. This program aims and
encourages the participation of local
communities, toward the improvement
on how the natural and social resources
are used, and supports the competitiveness
in the business area. It is a nature
friendly program that encourages people
not to commercialize nor extract protected
species of plants and animals. At
Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura we fee
proud to be part of the best Hotels
in Costa Rica, for the contribution
to promote the Sustainable Development
of the Environment.
Tirrenia restaurant: where surf and
turf become one!
A fresh, relaxed ambiance, with excellent
flavors and textures. We have a boutique
wine bar, where your palate will awaken
while we prepare your table.
It is a proven fact that Mediterranean
food is one of the best ways to feed.
It is full of health and flavor at
the same time; each ingredient treated
with importance and dedication when
preparing, but also in a simple way…
ingredients are not only valuable
for their cost, but for their flavor
and freshness. The original flavors
of the ingredients are respected,
but in a subtle combination that awakens
the senses when you feel that crunchy
asparagus slightly sautéed
in olive oil… that oil…
like brilliant liquid gold, with an
emblematic flavor!
Now, at the Ramada Plaza Herradura,
we have taken advantage of the ancient
wit of the Mediterranean gastronomy,
and we have made it available for
people across the ocean. Here you
will find juicy and mature greek olives,
those who leave behind an intense
mouth sensation… ideal to combine
with a good wine! Roasted eggplant,
stuffed tomatoes, and grilled zucchinis…
Here you can enjoy mouth-melting
lamb chops, coupled with roasted garlic…
left in very low heat, with deserved
patience, until they soften…
finally, a texture and a mix with
olive oil that caramelizes…
to a flavor fully appreciated by those
who know a great dish! The freshest
seafood and juiciest meat cuts, prepared
with care on a delicate ritual…
not to mention the almond-garlic-grape
soup, a creation that will make your
heart jump when touching your palate.
And then, a grand finale… sweets
such as Baklava, where almonds and
honey come together and form that
alkemy of flavor… or that crème
brulée, where caramelized sugar
provides with a crunchy, yet soft
consistency…
That’s what we are… Mediterranean
feelings represented on its vegetables,
meats and fish… every flavor
coming from developed gastronomic
cultures such as Spain, Italy, France,
Morocco, Greece…
Open all week for lunch and dinner.
See you soon!
Cual si fuera parte de la ancestral
historia del Japón, el restaurante
Sakura forma parte de la historia
culinaria del Japón en Costa
Rica. Antes del auge de la comida
japonesa, específicamente del
sushi, el restaurante Sakura ya contaba
con años de experiencia con
su chef japonés, deleitándonos
con éstos manjares. Con productos
importados y los mejores mariscos
de nuestras costas, encontramos una
mezcla de sabores que nos transportan
a los palacios de los emperadores
japoneses.
Nuestros famosos y tradicionales
platos japoneses como el Shabu Shabu
(lomito crudo con vegetales) o el
Sukiyaki (lomito con la famosa salsa
del mismo nombre) son una muestra
de que la excelencia no esta solo
reservada para unos pocos.
En un ambiente completamente japonés
le ofrecemos nuestro “Sushi
Bar” con los mejores sabores
y el exquisito toque de nuestros cocineros
que lo deleitarán con el famoso
California Roll, Philadelphia maki
o Rainbow maki.
