15 day Costa Rica itinerary

Day 1:

Welcome !!! Arrival and assistance at the International Airport in San Jose. Information briefing upon arrival at the hotel. Overnight in San Jose

Day 2:

Breakfasts. Morning departure to Tortuguero National Park. On the way, discover banana plantations and other attractions, such as the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Tour through the canals and afternoon arrival in Tortuguero. Overnight in Tortuguero.

Day 3:

Breakfasts. Morning departure and tour to the town of Tortuguero. Discover this cozy little town and its inhabitants. Late afternoon at leisure and optional tours. Overnight in Tortuguero.

Day 4:

Departure by boat and plane towards San Jose and the Central Valley. In San Jose, again you will take a flight towards Corcovado National Park. In Sierpe, we will jump aboard a boat that will take us through Sierpe River Mangroves until Drake Bay. Afternoon at leisure and overnight in Drake Bay or Corcovado.

Day 5:

Breakfasts. Morning departure and Tour to Caño Island. Discover the amazing stone spheres that were mysteriously made by our ancestors. Walk around the island with your guide. Return to the Hotel.

Day 6:

Breakfasts. Tour to Corcovado National Park. Corcovado is the planet’s most intense biological place, a true and virgin tropical rainforest with some of the last animal species on earth. Late afternoon to the hotel. Overnight in Corcovado.

Day 7:

Breakfasts. Departure by boat to Sierpe or Drake Bay airport. Transfer back to San Jose by plane. Transfer from San Jose towards Arenal Volcano. Afternoon and evening at leisure to relax or enjoy other local attractions. Overnight in La Fortuna.

Day 8:

Breakfasts. Two tours included today. First, horseback riding. The La Fortuna Waterfall is situated amidst endless tropical rainforests and steep canyons. This horseback trip will take you deep into tropical jungles, riding along narrow trails. The wildlife and scenery is absolutely amazing. Once near the waterfall, we will descend on foot along a steep trail until we reach the bottom, where the famous Fortuna Waterfall natural pool is located. The scenery at the bottom is simply fantastic, with a streaming and powerful waterfall surrounded by a gorgeous canyon and evergreen tropical rainforest. After, in the later afternoon, visit the Tabacon Hot Springs with dinner included. This half day tour includes a guided hike around the Arenal Volcano in search of nature, wildlife and the ancient lava flows. The Arenal has been one of the most active volcanoes in the world for over the past 4 decades. After the guided walk, relax in the fantastic hot water springs, relaxing in the several hot water pools full of minerals. Different temperatures in different pools. A delicious dinner is also included in the tour. Transportation from and back to the hotel also included. Overnight in Arenal.

Day 9:

Breakfasts. Morning transfer towards Monteverde Cloud Forest. Afternoon arrival. Monteverde is Costa Rica’s famous cloud forest reserve. Guided night tour included. This trip is definitely something else. Starting at 5:30 PM, just before sunset, we will first meet at the departure point. After a short introductory presentation, we will start our night adventure trip into a large farm and forest, in search of the local wildlife that is alive during the nighttime. Our guide will accompany the group during the trip. Species that the visitor might encounter include night birds, snakes, amphibians and reptiles in general, perhaps occasional coyotes, porky pine, tarantulas, sloths, coati mundis, raccoons, armadillos and much more. This is one of the people`s favorite trips in the area. Transportation from and back to the hotel is also included.Overnight in Monteverde.

Day 10:

Breakfasts and get ready for three fun tours that will show you what Monteverde is all about. . Optional Dinner at Johnny’s Pizzeria.

After breakfasts, you will enjoy three of the best tours in the area in one tour.

Sky Trek Canopy Tour

The Monteverde Sky Trek tour is Monteverde`s longest and highest canopy tour. Located inside the Monteverde Sky Adventure Park, surrounded by breathtaking views and misty cloud forests, the cable network starts high in the mountains. From here, you will descend through the tropical canopy, gliding down from platform to platform. All platforms are made from steel, with the safest security measures and the very best trained guides in the area. Transportation is included from the hotel and also the return transportation is included. The canopy can also be combined with the Aerial Tram trip and the Monteverde Hanging Bridges ( or Sky Walk ). Daily departures.

Sky Tram

Set inside the Monteverde Sky Adventure Park, during this trip you will be able to admire the wildlife that inhabits these tropical cloud forests. Go in search of birds (perhaps see the Quetzal and the famous Bell Bird ) as well as other species of wildlife. The tram will take you high up the mountains. This trip is the ideal excursion for elderly, nature lovers and families with children. Remember, the tram can be perfectly combined with the canopy tour ( Sky trek ) and also with the Sky Walk ( or Monteverde hanging bridges ), which are located inside the Sky Adventure park in Monteverde. Transportation is included in the trip. Daily departures.

Hanging Bridges

The Sky Walk or hanging bridges expand over more than a mile and a half. Accompanied by the local bilingual naturalist guide, you will explore the dense and endless tropical cloud forests from above. See many species of birds, perhaps also the Quetzal and the Bell Bird as well as many hummingbirds, even monkeys, sloths and other species. The longest bridge has a total length of almost 1000 feet. You will come face to face with the upper part of the forest trees, also known as forest canopy), where unique species life, and you will also enjoy fascinating views of the entirety of the cloud forests. Transportation included. Daily departures.

Day 11:

Departure and transfer to Manuel Antonio National Park. The amazing view along the way will amaze you. Afternoon arrival and late afternoon at leisure and relax on the beach, in town or doing an optional tour. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.

Day 12:

Morning Tour to Manuel Antonio National Park. Discover this small but interesting National Park. Afternoon at leisure to spend at the beautiful beaches of Manuel Antonio. Our guided national park trip is the best in the area. Explore the trails of the tropical rainforests. Go in search of coati mundis, white faced monkeys, raccoons, sloths and many species of birds. The trail will first take you along the first two most beautiful beaches and later, up a hill through dense tropical jungle. This tour also includes enough time on the beach ( Playa Espadilla ) . The beaches inside the park are surrounded by lush evergreen tropical jungle, a reason why Manuel Antonio has been awarded as among the world`s 25 most scenic national parks. Daily departures and transportation from the hotel also included. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.

Day 13/14:

Day at leisure in Manuel Antonio. Enjoy optional tours like rafting, canopy or horseback trips or simply relax by the pool.

Day 15:

Departure. Good Bye !!!
