The Caribbean Coast ( Limon and surroundings)

The Caribbean Coast and the province of Limon host some of the most unique cultural and natural attractions in Costa Rica. Its mayor attractions are Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, Limon, Tortuguero and Manzanillo.

The Caribbean in Costa Rica is another world. Covered almost entirely by the province of Limon, it offers different attractions to visitors. Afro - Caribbean culture, interesting and non - traditional Caribbean culinary arts, beautiful beaches and rainforests, interesting and alive indigenous culture and many National Parks.

The climate in the Caribbean is hot and humid, affected by winds and humidity from the Caribbean.

The economy is based upon banana plantations, some non-traditional fruits and plants, ornamental plants, cattle, and of course... Tourism.

The largest city is Limon, followed by Siguirres, Guapiles and Bri Bri, which is the capitol of the Talamanca area, home to the Bri Bri Indians.

The Caribbean offers many Hotels and places to stay, and its short distance form San Jose ( 3 hrs ) is another plus.

The South Caribbean of Costa Rica

The North Caribbean Coast

Tortuguero is home to the world famous Tortuguero National Park and its natural canales, rainforests and llodges.

Cahuita National Park:
This small strip of rainforest protects a long beach area where the largest Costa Rican coral reef is located. You will find great snorkeling, tours and many attractions in Cahuita Town, a typical Caribbean style coastal village.

Puerto Viejo:
It is located even more to the south, and it is very similar in style to Cahuita. Beautiful beaches, many small hotels and restaurants, a lot of nature. It is a short distance from Bri Bri Indigenous Reserve, as well as many other secluded beaches and rivers.
