The
Central Valley
The Central Valley
lies between different ridges and mountain ranges, such
as the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, the Escazu Mountains
and the Talamanca Mountain range.
This area is home to the largest cities in the country,
starting with San Jose, Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago.
All of them are capitol cities of their provinces that
have the same name.
The Central Valley has some of the largest industrial
areas, as well as many offices, headquarters of large
companies, almost half of the countries population,
museums, hotels, airports, shopping malls, clubs, stores,
etc.
San Jose is the
name that is commonly used to describe this area (especially
in the travel industry), because of the fact that it
is the largest city by far and also heart of many travel
industry associated businesses.
The Central Valley
is usually used to depart and start with a travel itinerary,
and we recommend to take at least half a day to visit
the city of San Jose and if there is time, also Cartago.
