The
Southern Pacific: The Wild South
The
Southern Pacific is known to be the adventurous
area of the country because of its large territory
and its large national parks, especially Corcovado,
Esquinas and Piedras Blancas and La Amistad.
The Southern Pacific belongs to the province of
Puntarenas. It is very remote and wild, ideal
foe people seeking for a soft adventure.
Its largest towns are Golfito, Pto. Jimenez and
Ciudad Nelly.
The
South offers many attractions, from beaches such
as Pavones and Dominical, to National Parks as
Corcovado, Esquinas or Piedras Blancas and La
Amistad.
Peninsula de Osa & Corcovado
Corcovado
National Park covers almost the entire Peninsula,
and it is the home of a large number of animals
such as Jaguars, Tapirs, Giant Anteater and many
birds. The large area of more than 80000 acres,
make this park a Wildlife Paradise. Ranger Stations
at Sirena, La Leona and Los Patos are some of
the entrances to the park. You can also access
the Park staying at Drake Bay, taking a boat from
Sirena and accessing the park from there. Drake
Bay is beautiful by its own, offering a number
of beautiful lodges along the ocean. Recommended.
