Costa Rica cloud forests
The fantastic cloud forests of Costa Rica are a favorite destination for birders, biologists, eco tourists and regular nature loving visitors alike. The Monteverde Cloud Forest, the Los Quetzales and San Gerardo de Dota Cloud Forest are home to a unique and sometimes endangered list of species of wildlife, encountered sometimes nowhere else in the world. The variety of animals found in these habitats is different from the tropical lowland rainforests in that the trees do not grow as tall as in the lower regions, and due to the high percentage of moist and constant rain, the tree trunks are absolutely covered by plants, including Bromeliads and many more. The Monteve4rde reserve and the neighboring Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve have an extended and well maintained network of trials criss crossing the dense cloud forests for miles and miles. A guide is highly recommend in order to full understand and really learn about this fascinating world.
