Sarapiqui

Sarapiqui is a great area for birding. Surrounded by the high cloud forests of Braulio Carrillo, the slopes of Irazu and Turrialba Vocano and the lowlands from Barra del Colorado, Tortuguero and the descending ridges of Talamanca, this areas is home to hundreds of species. Sarapiqui is a highlight for many birders that visit the area in search or sightings, or rare species. Activities in the area include adventure tours such as rafting, canopy, rappelling kayaking and others, and ecotourism activities especially guided nature tours, horse4back riding, night tours and more. There are around 10 – 15 hotels in the region, from luxury Inns to large ecolodges.
